Diminishing The Darkness By Lifting Up the Marvelous Light Of Jesus Christ

From The Editor -- by Marcia Greenwood   June 2008
Can’t see where life is taking you?  Then “turn on the light.”  Do you keep stumbling and perhaps even falling because of the darkness around you?  Again, “turn on the light.”

No, I’m not talking about a physical flashlight or light bulb — I’m talking about the Word of God!

Psalm 119:105 says, Your Word is a lamp  (a light) to my feet and a light (illumination) for my path.

What an awesome Father God is to us.  He doesn’t want His kids stumbling around in the dark. That’s one reason that He sent us the Light – to keep our path of life brightly lit.

Psalm 119:130 says — The opening of your Words gives light (illumination); it gives understanding to even the simple.

Do negative things, such as fear, keep returning into your life?  Then keep the light on and keep your path well lit ahead of you.  Doing a study on fear in the Bible will help you find scriptures that you can believe and speak out of your mouth, when ever fear tries to overtake you.  The same applies to any negative thing that comes against you.  As long as you keep the light on, no darkness whatsoever will be able to overtake you.

Darkness has no place in the light.  Jesus is the light of the world, and He abides in you and me.

1 John 4:4 says—Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.  Thank God for that!  Keep in fellowship with Jesus.  The same goes for anything that comes against you that tries to darken your path in life.
  1. Get in the Word and see what God says about your situation.
  1. Believe God and remember, it doesn’t take much faith to believe in something that cannot fail!  God’s Word has never failed and will never fail.  He says that He watches over His Word to perform it!  Glory to God!
  1. Do what God says to do in His Word.
Yes, it’s that simple.  Turn on the light and stay in the light and you will never walk in darkness.

Through A Glass Darkly

Seeing The Real You

When you look at yourself in a looking glass or a mirror, do you realize that you are not really looking at the real you?

Even the very best, most expensive, precision mirror on the planet might just as well be a dingy tin pan when it comes to seeing who you really are.  The best you can even discern, in the natural, is your physical body, i.e. Your Earth suit.  But the fact is that you have never really seen who you are in a mirror.

On the other hand, the Bible, the written Word of God will show you exactly who you are!  You see, YOU ARE who and what the BIBLE says you are!

I remember one day, back when I was so sick, I glanced up at the mirror and saw the face of the spirit of death, a gray, translucent, skull-like face, glaring at me out of my own face!  That is how close I was to death.  But that is not who and what I am today!  You see I found out who and what I am and what I’m supposed to look like.

What if every time you looked into the mirror – you saw the reflection of Jesus – because you looked so much like him?  Well keep reading!

2 Cor. 3:18  But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Paul is saying that, to the Father, you already look a lot like Jesus!  And with the help of the Holy Spirit, you are looking more and more like Him every day!

2 Cor. 4:1 (… continuing from 2 Cor. 3:18) Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not.

… Not only are you starting to look like Jesus, but also you inherited the SAME office and ministry as He had while He was here on Earth!  And as long as you have His same compassion, you CANNOT FAIL!

Think seriously about that for a moment.  What would YOU DO – if you KNEW that you could not fail?

James 1:23  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
James 1:24  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
James 1:25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

James is saying that you can look right at yourself in a mirror and not have a clue who or what you really are.  Plus, you almost immediately forget what you DID see.
But, if - you look into, lean into, really get into - the Bible, the Word of God enough, you will not only see and understand who and what you are, but also what you can do and have!

1 Cor. 13:12  For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face-to-face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Paul is saying that even though you may not be able to see it, grasp it, or understand it as yet, in time, as you mature as a Christian, you will begin to see yourself as God sees you.

Now that is very “Good News” because it can be extremely difficult to actually become what God wants us to become if we can’t comprehend what it even looks like!  What does success look like?  What does a great leader look like?  What does a man of faith look like?  Just like Jesus!
